Letting Birds Be Birds!

'Phoebe Linden Green
from
World Parrot Trust (Ask an Expert) & Santa Barbara Bird Farm
Saturday Oct 16th: 9:00 am – 5:00ish ($30.00 per person) Phoebe’s main topic is going to be on “letting birds be birds”, but she will discuss creating trans-species community – in other words, allowing your pet to be part of the family and letting them become active participants in the environment, rather than being a prisoner of our whims and unrealistic expectations. Along with that will be a lot of discussion about enrichment, foraging, how to handle hormonal/nesting behavioral problems by changing/improving the environment, etc.
Sunday Oct 17th: Phoebe will be conducting consultations.
Group Consult – 9:00am – 12:00pm ($10.00 per person) - During group consultations, we will all have the opportunity to ask questions regarding all aspects of bird care.
Private Consults – (LIMITED) – (suggested donation of $50.00)–1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm, 7 pm
Location:
AGE Building
(Austin Groups for the Elderly Building)
3710 Cedar Street
Austin, TX 78705
About Phoebe Linden Green
In 1986, Phoebe married the love of her life, Harry Linden, at the place of her avicultural beginning, the Santa Barbara Bird Farm. 20 years of dedicated observations and avid learning have formed her opinions surrounding psittacine neonates, neophytes, fledglings and adults who benefit markedly from thoughtfully arranged environments. She and Harry include boxes, play gyms, cages, aviaries and agreed-upon furniture and counter surfaces for parrot activities. There are no spaces in their home or on their property untouched by parrot dander.
During the years they raised parrots for the pet trade (they no longer do, since 2001) and continuing through today, they have dedicated themselves to developing environments that increase observable natural behaviors such as exercising, interacting, foraging for foods, touching, preening, flapping, flying, showering, mulch-making, wild bird watching, helping with chores, and goofing off—not always seen in captive birds. Their experiences are happily shared with World Parrot Trust members with the objective to foster enrichment for captive psittacines and their caregivers.

Hear what our members are saying:
“ Like minded people who want to learn and share their knowledge of avian creatures. After owning parrots for over 30 years, I am amazed by how much I didn't know - just like having kids, I wish I could do it over "the right way". Sharing experiences and meeting people who love these creatures - we're not really "weird", but have a whole lot of love to give! ”
— Carole Hawkins on Apr 20, 2010.
“ We are a great group of people who all love our parrots! We all want the best for them and we learn new ways to enrich their lives at every meeting. Someone always has great new ideas for training, enriching, toy making, food options, you name it. ”
